Lowry Hill Volunteer Monica Molina has been named “Volunteer of the Year” at a volunteer appreciation social held during National Volunteer Month on Wednesday, April 16, at The Kenwood Senior Living, 825 Summit Ave, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Molina has become an integral and cherished part of The Kenwood community, generously dedicating her time and talents to enhance the lives of residents and support the staff.
“Monica’s dedication and the breadth of her contributions truly embody the spirit of volunteerism,” said Jennifer Volkenant, executive director, The Kenwood. “She plays a vital role in fostering a vibrant and engaging environment for our residents, and we are incredibly fortunate to have her.”
Molina actively hosts a diverse range of enriching activities, including calming meditation sessions, stimulating discussion groups, uplifting sing-alongs, and supportive peer groups. Her commitment extends beyond these regular engagements, as she readily steps in to assist with other activities, ensuring residents can enjoy movies, participate in exercise programs, and have fun during bingo games. She is also always willing to lend a hand by distributing flyers and keeping everyone informed.
Furthermore, Molina captures the memories and moments of The Kenwood community as the dedicated photographer for the newsletter and the treasured “Book of Fame.” Her friendly and supportive nature shines brightest in her interactions with new residents. She goes above and beyond to ensure they feel welcome and comfortable, offering tours of the building, inviting them to meals, activities, facilitating introductions to other residents, and simply being a warm and reassuring presence during their transition.
National Volunteer Week serves as an important occasion to celebrate and acknowledge the invaluable contributions of volunteers like Monica Molina, who generously dedicate their time and skills to enrich their communities. This annual observance, first established in 1974, underscores the profound impact of volunteerism and encourages greater community involvement.
