Kenwood Senior Living Spreads Holiday Cheer with Sandwich Making for Homeless on Christmas Eve – KARE-TV

This Christmas Eve, the spirit of giving will be alive and well at The Kenwood Senior Living Community, 825 Summit Ave., Minneapolis. Senior residents are joining forces to spread holiday cheer by making 200 sandwiches for those in need.

On December 24th, residents gathered in the community room to assemble the sandwiches which will then be delivered to The Sandwich Project of Minnesota. This local non-profit organization works to provide nutritious meals to those experiencing homelessness or food insecurity.

“We are so proud of our residents for taking the initiative to give back to the community during this special time of year,” said Jennifer Volkenant, executive director at The Kenwood Senior Living. “This activity not only provides much-needed nourishment to those in need, but it also allows our residents to connect with their purpose and share their skills and compassion.”

The Sandwich Project of Minnesota relies on volunteers and donations to fulfill its mission. This initiative by The Kenwood Senior Living demonstrates the power of intergenerational connection and the enduring spirit of giving that can be found at all stages of life.
