Resident Ruth Anne Olson will lead a luncheon at noon Wednesday, March 12, at The Kenwood retirement community, 825 Summit Avenue, Minneapolis.
Olson and Tony Morley have many times visited Bigonet, an area with a very small population in Ouest, Haiti. They saw its near-total destruction in the earthquake of 2010 and its determined recovery in the years since. In 2013, Kenwood residents met four of Bigonet’s teachers during their first-ever visit to the U.S.
This luncheon will be an opportunity for the celebration of this town’s past recovery, and to learn about what sill needs to be done in Haiti.
The Kenwood is a rental retirement community which provides independent and assisted living apartments and a full schedule of activities and services. Furnished apartments are also available for a short-term stay – a weekend, a week, a month or longer.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information call 612-374-8100.
